Army Snowboarding has been established for 10 years and each season attracts greater a number of soldiers participating.

The Army Snowboarding Championships caters for experienced and novice riders alike and is focussed on 3 disciplines: Slalom, Boarder X and Freestyle.

The championships are held on the Stubai Glacier, Austria, under the exercise name EX SNOW JACK 09.  This season they will be conducted over the period 28 Nov - 18 Dec 09.  Click here to go to the Army Snowboarding link for more details.

There is also an Army Snowboarding Championships DIN published as 2009DIN10-039.

It is not surprising that the young and not so young of many nations have taken to the sport in their hundreds of thousands. Many potential Army recruits as well as those serving have already mastered its land based counterpart -skateboarding.  The sport achieved Olympic status at Nagano 98.  It can not be long before the AWSA has its first Olympic snowboarder.
